Websagogo Module Related Terms

WAG-MOD: Webs-a-gogo Module Website.Offered exclusively through Webs-a-gogo, these websites provide the site owner the ability to edit the website from any high-speed internet connection using a browser such as Internet Explorer. After login, the user can edit any content within the site using the edit pages and tools provided through the website.

OTS: Online Training System. Webs-a-gogo OTS provides a web of information covering websagogo related topics from Domains, Websites, Hosting and more to using the WAG-MOD provided with a Webs-a-gogo Module Website. The OTS system includes Helps, FAQs, Knowledgebase and Tutorials.

WAG-PAC: Websagogo Package. This package refers to a group of services bundled together for added value and lower price. Specifically, a Domain Name, a Website and a Hosting Package.

MPOP: Multiple Points of Presence. This refers to the multiple points of presence that a single website has in terms of the domain names that identify it. Though technically a single website, a MPOP site has special custom code which allows it to put on the face assigned to it according to the domain name it represents. A hybrid website of sorts, and driven by an extensive database design and active server pages for the web, the MPOP website can look like one or a hundred different websites in its appearance and content, all according to the domain name (URL) that it is called by.
With our MPOP architecture, the idea is that a Domain Name typed into the address bar of a browser will determine the look, design and content displayed on the webpage. While the entire MPOP system for a particular client exists in one master directory on the web server, known as the “Master Domain”, the MPOP website can have as many sets of data (Text, Pictures, Links, colors, etc) as we assign it. Essentially, the MPOP domain is a chameleon. What it shows you depends on what you ask for. And the best part is this: since the MPOP system is managed behind our web server, Google, MSN, Yahoo and other search engines see all of these domains which appear in one website format, as “Different Websites”. Since the website identity, domain name, textual content, links, descriptions, titles, etc., which make up the webpage are driven and assigned according to the domain name itself, search engines see it as whatever domain (server name) is in the browser address bar. A brief example of the proprietary architecture is outlined in figure 1 below.
MPOP domains for Search Engine Optimization (SEO): In additional to consolidated management features and ease of controls, the MPOP technology really shines when it comes to SEO management. Not only are all MPOP domains working together using keywords and phrases to promote your terms on the web, but the names themselves are critical when it comes to SEO. Ideally all MPOP domain names should be search terms themselves. For example if you were a real estate agent specializing in townhomes in the Atlanta, GA area, then a great domain name for you would be: www.townhomesinatlantageorgia.com, or www.townhomesinatlantaga.com. This way the domain itself becomes a keyword. This is a very powerful way to promote you site and your site content. Websagogo has tested and proven this theory to be correct.

Stage: Technically, the Detail Frame. All page changes take place on the Stage, except those you designate to open in a new window. This is the center of the site between the Navigation Links to the left, HotSpots to the right, Header to the top and footer to the bottom.

Main Frame: The outer area of the site, also known as the "wrap".

Press Articles: Quite simply, your web pages (as opposed to your website). You can have as many Press Articles as you want. A Press Article is created by using the Webs-a-gogo Press Article Editor, located in the Control Center of your site.

WAG-MOD HTML Editor: Also known as a WYSIWYG Editor. WYSIWYG stands for "What You See Is What You Get. It is the handy tool we have installed for your use in Press Articles, the Product Catalog, Cart edit and a number of other management pages where you need to create, edit and format body text, pictures, tables and pretty much other "Word" or "Word Perfect" thing you want to do. Except, of course, within the constraints of HTML rules. It is simply the Memo field with the word processor looking toolbar at the top of it found throught the Websagogo management system. These handy editors are very powerful. With them you can create formatted tables with rows and columns, insert images, write a book with almost unlimited text formatting potential, insert the embed code for a You-Tube video, or a Google Map, or even insert code for a Flash video or movie! Very Cool! In fact you can even create an entire web page with one. And you have many. For assistance in learning to use the Websagogo WAG-MOD HTML Editor, click the OTS Help link at the top of any HTML Editor.

Link Name: The field in the Press Article Editor that you use to assign a link to that particular Press Article. Links assigned in the Link Name field appear in the Navigation Menu at the left of the Stage.

Pre-Made Links: Links that we here at Webs-a-gogo have designed to link to Pre-Made Pages. These links display on the Navigation Menu to the left of the Stage.

Pre-Made Pages: Pages that we here at Webs-a-gogo have pre-designed. Some are full Press Articles that we know through experience almost everyone uses, such as Home, About Us, Newsletter. Others are Press Article featurettes which act as headers for other functions in the site, such as Contact Form, Contact Form Thanks, Guestbook, etc. You simply have to edit them to reflect the nature of your site.

HotSpots: Strategic areas on your main page, dynamically populated by information from selected items in your Online Catalog or selected Press Articles. HotSpots act as "marquees" and are designed so that you can boldly promote selected areas of your site. They are also links to the selected areas.

FooterLinks: Links strategically placed at the bottom (footer) of your site to draw attention back to selected content within your site. Good for redirecting visitor's attention back to your offerings.

Catalog: Online Catalog - awesome, unlimited Product/Service/Item catalog complete with Department and Category hierarchy. Fully functional and ready for you to start selling online.

Favorites: A page that remembers visitors and lets them add items from your Online Catalog to it. Much like a "wish list", it is a page for them to store items they are interested in for quick access later.

World Wide Web General Terms

WWW- (World Wide Web)

HTTP – (Hypertext Transfer Protocol):Standard set of rules for transferring files (text, graphic images, sound, video, and other multimedia files ) and web pages across the Internet.

HTTPS - (Hypertext Transfer Protocol over Secure Socket Layer), or HTTP over SSL. Security: Used these days for creating a secure environment for transferring critical and private information. This is the web protocol developed by Netscape and since adopted by Internet Explorer. This is a method that is built right into the browser. The technology encrypts and decrypts user page requests as well as the pages that are returned by the Web server. HTTPS is really just the use of a Secure Socket Layer (SSL) as a sublayer under its regular HTTP application layering. (HTTPS uses port 443 instead of HTTP port 80 in its interactions with the lower layer, TCP/IP.) SSL uses a 40-bit key size for the RC4 stream encryption algorithm, which is considered an adequate degree of encryption for commercial exchange. Nowadays, the encryption is much more sophisticated and much harder to crack. Simply put, the SSL protects client data entered into a web page from being hijacked. Webs-a-gogo recommends that all websites maintain an SSL certificate with the SSL badge on their Webs-a-gogo website if using a shopping cart, collecting money or collecting personal information about their web clients.

URL- Universal or Uniform Resource Locator: The Uniform Resource Locator is used to specify the address of web sites and web pages. Having keywords in the URL can improve the search engine ranking of the page in a few of the search engines. While most search engines do not give any preference to a page which has the keyword in the URL, keyword URLs lead to great exposure and traffic, which does lead to preference by search engines.

Site Map:This is a single page which offers a listing of your websites pages and links. Usually presented in some kind of flow format such as an outline in order to provide visitors to your site with a method for finding content or features within your website. Since your Websagogo website is dynamic and as such much of your content is unknown to us when you buy your site, we have your site map constructed to show pages according to link flow. As you add additional pages with links to them, they will appear on your site map. The way you have configured your links is the way we configure the map. Although this method does not always indicate the flow logic of your site, it does still provide the means for someone to find a page or feature.

Web Server: The web server at Webs-a-gogo (WAG) is the public server we use to provide World Wide Web access to your web pages. The WAG web server is also used for active server pages utilized in delivering the Webs-a-gogo self-edit module. The term web server could also be used to indicate your domains website.

Domain Name: A series of alphanumeric characters separated by periods, such as www.webs-a-gogo.com, that is an address of a website on a computer network connection such as a web server. The term Domain Name came into use as a more simple way to identify the identity and location of a web page. Back in the day, "web pages" were referred to by an IP address (Internet protocol address), such as "65.5.0.18".

FTP (File Transfer Protocol):
As it relates to websites at Webs-a-gogo, this is a method through which the client can upload, download and store files on their website. All clients are issued an FTP address along with username and password credentials for logging in and using FTP for files storage and transfer to and from their website to their local computer at home or office. All Webs-a-gogo websites are provided a directory named “Files” which become their FTP directory within their website. Thus, when referencing the FTP directory in URL paths, the customer would type: /files/. For example, a picture named “image.jpg” uploaded to an FTP directory on a WAG website would be referred to by using the path or URL string as “/files/image.jpg”. Generally, we provide 50 MB for FTP file storage with our standard WAG-PAC offer. Additional storage capacity is available for Webs-a-gogo clients upon request.

Web-Based Email & POP3 Email:
-- Web-Based:
As the name implies, web-based email is simply a webpage or pages through which webs-a-gogo clients can check their domain email through their website. In this type, clients can check their email from any internet connection in the world.
-- POP3: Point of Presence (POP) means that client uses an email program such as Outlook or Outlook Express to poll the Webs-a-gogo Mail Server and retrieve email through download off the mail server to the client’s local computer. In this way email is then stored on the clients computer not necessarily the mail server.

Keywords and Key Phrases: Simply put, these are a group of words and multi word phrases that describe the core of your web offer or business. Keywords also have a place in the META tags of your web pages. Yet, more importantly, they need to be present in the body of your web pages. Keywords and Keyword Phrases should be scattered throughout all aspects of your website to include: Picture names, Links, Link Titles, Page Names, Page Titles, Alt Text, Body Text and every other place where you can use your keywords in a meaningful way. Simply putting a giant list of words at the bottom of your page which we call “Keyword Stocking” is bad. Search Engines are able to tell the difference between a list of words and words used in a sentence. We cannot put too much emphasis on the importance of keywords. Essentially they drive the results of most Search Engines and can make or break your best efforts to “get found”. See example below for more information.
-- Keyword Example: If you were a Christian School specializing in Christian Education in the City of Dublin Georgia, you would have keywords such as:, Christian School Georgia, Christian Education Georgia, Christian High School Dublin GA, Christian Elementary School Dublin GA, etc.
The more specific you are the better. Being over-general can lead to visitors who do not find what they want. This is particularly true with Pay-Per-Click (PPC) marketing. If your PPC ad is too general you will waste clicks on visitors who immediately leave because they realize after arrival to your landing page that this is not what they expected or wanted, and thus, will never make it to your conversion page. In our example, you would not use the keyword: “School” because it would represent all schools everywhere and be more or less useless to a person looking for a school in Dublin, Georgia.

SEO-Search Engine Optimization: Perhaps the most important aspect to your web marketing. SEO techniques were only seriously considered in the last 5 years. Originally, as commercial entities flocked to the web, business owners looked for new and innovative ways to be found. First there was Yahoo. Though rudimentary in its results it did commercialize the web first. Then along came Overture with its Pay-Per-Click keyword search model, which later, Google became famous for. Some say Google stole this technology from Overture, some say Google merely emulated and improved on it. No matter what however, Google is now the undisputed king of the web search. From the start, Google search algorithms were truly ground-breaking. From their humble beginning, Google had one primary rule in their ranking system. And that was and is: that the more your website was linked to from someone else’s website, the more important you must be. Therefore, the more your website is “linked to” from other websites, the higher your ranking becomes in the natural search result. And make no mistake about it, this is still very true today. The more you can get your website “linked to” from another website the better off you are for index ranking with Google. And it is no mistake that one of the hallmark features of our MPOP system is that all of your MPOP domains/sites link to each other. So if you have 10 MPOP domains, then you have 10 sites linking to each of the other 10 sites. All with shared keywords, shared content and shared domain names. Thus, shared SEO values. That is an example of the synergy created by our Webs-a-gogo MPOP technology!
Many techniques have been employed over the last seven years to give search engines a heads up about a website and hopefully get it high on the results list. Until 2007, the prevailing technique was the use of META tags. Currently, there are numerous methods or techniques associated with effective SEO. Webs-a-gogo maintains great emphasis on SEO techniques.
SEO maintenance is a service offered by Webs-a-gogo on a monthly basis. While our SEO services is an optional service, the Webs-a-gogo website module known as our WAG-PAC, has many SEO features built into the program already.

Landing Page:
SEO and Website Marketing Term. A landing page is a web page within your site where a client/visitor is brought to from an outside source such as banner/link on another website, PPC marketing ads with Google, Yahoo and others. This form of tracking can also be used for Inside links (links in your website), outside links (links outside your website). The landing page should have enough information on it to enable the visitor to make a buying or contact decision without the need for additional navigation. While you can add links to your landing page to go deeper for more information and details, your landing page should be written and stocked well enough so the client does not need to hunt more info. The landing page is critical to a successful link or PPC marketing program.
This is a page similar to the Landing Page, with the exception that this page indicates that the visitor actually made the contact or buying decision. For example: If on a landing page you had a link that said click here to contact us or click here to buy. So then, the page that they went to after clicking would be the conversion page and could be used to measure the number of people who made that decision. Through the use of both Landing and Conversion pages, clients can measure the success of web marketing more closely to see what works and what does not.

Conversion Page:
SEO and Website Marketing Term.

Website Content: All text, pictures, links, titles, image alt text, links, title, descriptions and keywords used in the head or body of site, mouse over text, etc. Basically, this includes all webpage content. Effective SEO maintenance would include regular attention to what the site says in all content relating to the keyword group. Ensuring that every page maximizes the number of references to the keywords/key phrases in meaningful sentences, descriptions, titles, names and remarks.
META Tags: Hidden Code in the header of each web page that contains information about the webpage to be collected by web bots or web crawlers. These tags are editable by the client using the Webs-a-gogo Control Center option for Site Setup / Optimize.

PPC (Pay-Per-Click) Marketing: Placing sponsored links or ads on the major search engines which are driven by keyword or key-phrase. Since ads are keyword associated, your ad only appears on search results when the search query is relevant to your site. Another great attribute of PPC marketing is that you only pay for your ad when it is clicked. Pricing varies greatly depending on the popularity of the terms you associate with your ad(s).

Reciprocal Linking: Put a link on your site to another website and have them do the same. This provides indexing value to your website.

Banner Advertising: Put a linked banner for your site on another website and have them do the same. This provides indexing value to your website.

Search Engine Submission: Submitting your domain name/URL to other Search Engines such as Google, Yahoo and others in order to make them currently aware of your website(s).

Remote Content Submission: Entering your website URL/Domain name along with descriptive content into other websites with a link back to your website. An excellent example of this technique would be Blogs, Email Addresses, Forums and Articles.

Webs-a-gogo Full Service SEO Maintenance:
Your Webs-a-gogo Web Specialist will provide you ongoing SEP assistance and advice, As requested your Webs-a-gogo specialist can also provide you managed SEO service at a contracted monthly rate according to your WAG-PAC hosting and your needs.

META TAGS: Meta is a prefix that in most information technology usages means "an underlying definition or description." Invisible strings of code your web developer can place inside your web page code header which can facilitate a greater chance that your site will get noticed by robots (aka meta crawlers) and if properly configured provide favorable registered indexing on search engines. The <meta> element provides meta-information about your page, such as descriptions and keywords for search engines. Meta Tags are lines of code in the HEAD area of the web page which tell search bots and other web crawlers about the webpage/website and can serve to tell them what and what not to cache or “Store” in their memory banks for indexing and referral.
********** It should be noted that in 2007 META tags were recognized as being degraded somewhat due to mis-use and mis-information propagated by irresponsible developers for the purpose of exaggerating page contents in order to inaccurately bolster search engine results. Thus search engines such as Google have begun paying more attention to actual “Content” of pages for their index ratings. Content would include, but not be limited to, Body text, Page Titles, Links, Link names, Picture names, Mouse over text, alt text, image titles, URLs in links, etc. However, Webs-a-gogo still uses these tags on all pages within our websites to ensure maximum SEO value with accurate information about the website. Webs-a-gogo also utilizes all other page content and search engine indexed elements by means of the dynamic content of the Webs-a-gogo module in order that the client can update webpage information as needed for relevant and timely information delivered to search engines. **********
