What is Copyright?
and who said you could use my stuff?

We at Webs-a-gogo are not copyright experts and don't sell copyright services.  To learn about copyrights and the copyright process, click here to go to the U.S. Copyright Office website.

A short synopsis of the copyright process follows:

-- An original work is created by a musician, writer, artist, etc. <<<< >>>> At this point the work is not copyrighted
-- The creator fixes the work in some tangible form (paper, CD, tape, etc) <<<< >>>> Under the Berne Convention the work is now copyright protected, no matter what the tangible form is
-- The creator displays the © symbol, creator's name, and year the work was created <<<< >>>> Under the Berne Convention this is more a "warning" than a legal requirement, since any country that joins the convention agrees that the exercise of copyright shall not be subject to formalities
-- The creator registers the work with the U.S. Copyright Office <<<< >>>>  Merely a fomality and unnecessary, since the work is already copyrighted
